So, if you're looking for trusted, professional podiatry care in Northern Ireland, we're here to help.

Ciaran Canney is the Founder and Clinical Director of Foot Medic and one of Northern Ireland’s most sought after and experienced podiatry clinicians. Patients travel from across the region and beyond to seek his opinion for complex, persistent or unresolved foot problems, often after trying other treatments without success.
Consultations focus on accurate diagnosis, clear explanation and structured treatment plans, helping patients understand the true cause of their condition and the most effective path toward recovery.
Director-led care:
My clinics are reserved for patients with pain, injury, recurrent or persistent foot and ankle conditions, and those with more complex clinical needs. Routine foot care and maintenance are delivered by our highly skilled Foot Health Practitioner team, ensuring every patient is seen by the right clinician at the right time.
My clinical approach is structured, evidence-based and outcome-focused. I combine advanced assessment, modern therapeutic technologies and personalised rehabilitation programmes to help patients recover efficiently and safely, particularly where problems have failed to settle or keep recurring.
Before training as a podiatrist, I worked within the Regional Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, and gained experience across a range of clinical disciplines including dermatology and general practice. This background has strongly influenced my clinical practice, particularly in relation to skin integrity, wound healing, and surgical decision-making. I have a particular professional interest in surgical procedures and advanced interventions.
I am a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, reflecting advanced clinical training and professional standards beyond routine podiatry. I have previously served on the College’s Faculty of Podiatric Medicine board and as Secretary of the Glasgow branch of the Royal College of Podiatry.
While Foot Medic has grown significantly, my core motivation has never changed: delivering safe, effective and genuinely patient-centred care. I am proud of the team we have built and the standards we uphold across our clinics. Podiatry continues to excite me, and I remain passionate about demonstrating just how life-changing the right foot and ankle care can be.
